Supports passage of Bipartisan Innovation Act
On Monday, the Commerce Department announced the company GlobalWafers’ intent to base their next 300-millimeter silicon wafer factory in Sherman, Texas. The large, Taiwan-based company produces these key semiconductors for the world, and the Department of Commerce is encouraging federal legislators to pass President Biden’s legislation to support the project.
“GlobalWafers committed to the U.S. because they believe Congress will get the Bipartisan Innovation Act over the finish line in the coming weeks,” said Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo. “Moving quickly to pass this bill will demonstrate America’s commitment to robust domestic semiconductor capacity and provide more companies throughout the supply chain the confidence they need to move forward with investments here.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For U.S. commerce officials as they encourage the passage of the president’s legislation.
- For Secretary Raimondo as she seeks to strengthen the semiconductor supply chain.
- For wisdom for the president and his administration as they look for solutions to the issue facing the nation.
